Size Matters

Ever wonder how we went from 1970′s bell bottoms to today’s muffin tops? Click and scroll your mouse over the inforgraphic, “Where Do Americans Get Their Calories?, and the mystery is solved. You’ll see what forty years of portion distortion looks like in about 40 seconds. And trust me,  it isn’t pretty. A 23 percent increase in calories consumed makes the U.S. the world’s leading country at packing on pounds, and helps explain why three out of four Americans are expected to be overweight by the year 2020 (according to the Paris-based Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development).  Fashion forecast: think elastic.

“The same molecules
that make up the food
we consume become
the molecules of our
minds and bodies.

your own food, you
should choose a
farmer as carefully as
 you choose your
doctor or pastor.”
